July 9th, 2022 - Fall 2022 Courses

My courses for the Fall semester are so exciting! I’m taking Logic––which will help me to improve my Logic Games skill on the LSAT––Constitutional Law Pol: Civ Lib & Right, International Law & Organization, Shakespeare & Milton Coming of Age, 19th C Black Writers & Nature, and an Honors course, Mscs of Afr & Afr Diaspora. These courses will be the most challenging set of classes yet, I am so ready! I will finally be able to take some law-focused classes, as well as expand my worldview with the Honors course.

As an English Major, the two law-focused courses are not required for me to graduate. However, Duquesne offers a Pre-Law Certificate that needs certain law courses to fulfill the requirements. To complete the certificate a student must complete fifteen credits within three specialized categories. In this fall semester, I am taking nine out of the fifteen. The certificate allows an English Major such as myself to branch out into different areas of expertise. I am most excited about the Constitutional Law class. My Pre-Law advisor, Dr. Coopie, recommended the course to me and I feel I might want to go into that area of law.

Two of the hardest aspects of this semester will be time management and organization. I need to be on top of everything! I will have duties as a Secretary, a student, and an employee (I’m trying to become a desk attendant, fingers crossed). I just need to keep focused and never give up. I also may have to do something that I do not do often, ask for help. There might be moments where it’s hard to keep up and I need to take a step back. This semester will be a true testament to my willpower and determination to finish anything and everything I start!
